Although Josh's birthday is not until Wednesday 8th April, we decided to have the party on the Sunday before. With Josh loving the outdoors & sport, we themed the party to be a pool party & sports circuit. We did a private hire of a local school's indoor heated swimming pool and school grounds.
In total we had 23 children and almost the same number of adults. We had a wonderful time - the children and a few of the Dads (and one brave Mum) spent about an hour in the pool and we had a large inflatable 'duck', water pistols and then a large bag of balloons suspended above the pool and when Josh pulled the cord the bag opened and the balloons cascaded into the pool. Everyone had a great time. We then headed outdoors and most children had brought along their bikes and/or scooters so everyone 'hooned' around the school grounds.
We set up a barbeque and had sausages/hot dogs & rolls and then all the associated 'junk' party food.
To add even more exercise, Mummy & Daddy had set up an obstacle/sport circuit. The children were divided into 2 teams and .... they were off. They had to jump over a rod, slither through a tunnel and then under a large ground sheet, slip through a hoop, pick up a ball out of a bucket of water with their teeth, do a forward roll and a few other energetic antics. This was heaps of fun until of course 2 mothers (yes, I was one, how did you guess!) and then 2 daddy's (and yes our Daddy was one as well) decided to show the kids just how NOT to do it ! Gosh the ole bod is not as flexible and supple as it used to be !!
We finished off with even more lollies and then a birthday cake and a final run around and everyone went home tired after having a good time.
Josh though had to then go onto another birthday party so it was a matter of dropping him off at the party, taking a deep breath and hoping that he had enough energy to get through it.
Suffice to say he did and had a lovely time at Freddie's party as well. Sunday sure was an action packed party day !!
