We had an early start this morning as we had to be out in Waikanae by 8.45am to watch Joshua compete in his very first Triathlon. It was great - Josh loved it and really gave it his best. He ran 600 metres, then jumped on his bike and biked for 1 kilometre and then ran 200 metres to the swimming pool, jumped in and swam 30 metres (1 length). Uncle Apples & Aunty Margaret and Sarah came out to support him and along with Mummy and Daddy were very noisy on the sideline cheering him on - in the transition area after the run, Aunty Margaret praised Josh and told him he was doing very well and asked him how he was feeling - his answer "I am so puffed" - and at this stage he hadn't even got in the saddle for the bike ride, let alone the swim!
As we all know, Josh enjoys all sports but this was the first time he had done 3 sports, back-to-back, and I think we all underestimated how tiring it could be - he looked rather shattered at the end of it all !!
