We all flew to Auckland on Friday to join up with Tony & Donna and Donna's son Charlie. Charlie is 13 years old and also attends Scots College and he is another one of Joshua's 'big' friends whom he adores. Tony is working up in Auckland for now and has an apartment down on the viaduct. The plan was for Paul and Tony to fly to Great Barrier Island to climb Mt Hobson but after a medley of errors (our plane from Wellington was late and so the boys missed their connection to the Island and then the best-made plans to fly over in the morning were foiled by the earthquake devastation in Japan and the possible tsunami warning as far away as NZ). So that left us all in Auckland for the weekend so we made the most of our time together. The boys played wonderfully and Charlie was like a big-brother to Josh all weekend - he even read stories to him at bed-time.
We wandered around the Viaduct, had a picnic and laid in the sun at the Rose Gardens, climbed the most incredible trees, went to a number of different parks and played various games, swam at an indoor swimming pool, had some lovely meals out and just enjoyed being altogether.
