And there's more activity ...

A weekend of rugby! Today we had the Annual Tournament between Poneke and Wainuiomata. We had a mixed team representing Poneke with only 4 of the Mustangs and other kiddies from other Poneke teams. A fine sunny day, a nice firm field, lots of supporters, Poneke and Wainui players as far as the eye could see, and a BBQ and soft drinks after the matches made for a great morning. Poneke faced a 'bigger 'team in Wainuiomata (and I mean 'big' - phew some of the kiddies looked 8 or 9 years old!!). However, the game ended in a draw and that was probably a fair outcome with both sides playing until they were really tired and couldn’t play anymore.
So this afternoon we decided to pack up a bag and head off into the hills. Lead by Huddy (as usual he always seem to take the lead), we went over the Eastern Walkway and ended up down at another beach. And yes, we built another bonfife, albeit a simple one today ... and this time we went prepared and cooked up sausages with bread & tomato sauce. We soaked up the warmth of the flames, told stories by the fire, we played "I spy", and 'tag' .... and we then watched the sun go down. We felt a million miles away from everything and all the worries of the world disappeared. A lovely way to finish off our weekend - again very simply but so peaceful and fun.
