The Wellington Axemen coach said it was their best game of the season – the hardest and most fun. We thought so too, and the Mustangs took it out in style and won by 1 try! Conditions were perfect, especially after a bit of rain came and went in the first half. The Mustangs played hard, demonstrated their ball handling and positional skills they’ve learnt this year, ran fast on defence and attack, and showed lots of style. They’re a great rugby team. Go the Mustangs!
And the after-match report from the coach .... "Joshua Turnbull had yet another balanced all round game with two tries by always being where the ball is, and three rips. Joshua Turnbull copped a bang again but got back on his feet and hung in there - these Mustangs are tough. Well done Joshua."
Also I have to admit that Josh had a hole in one of his rugby socks (and no Mummy does not DO darning!) and sadly his heel rubbed so much against his shoe that he came off the pitch limping with a rather large blister (make mental note to take sock around to Grandma later, she will definitely have a darning needle!)
And for all of the above ... Josh was awarded Player of the Day. .
Note the bare foot - yes the blister is rather impressive!
Showered, minus the mud - proudly showing off the Player of the Day ribbon & certificate
And let's not forget Huddy's many admirers on the sideline
And then in the afernoon, we headed off to the park with Joshua's foam plane and had heaps of fun trying to fly it - however, both Mummy and Daddy did spend a great deal of time on air traffic control and ensuring that Huddy didn't get to the plane 'on the runway' before they did ! It is so convenient having this massive lovely park right next door - and Josh now just jumps over the fence, lickety-split! Mummy & Daddy's bodies are not that flexible !
