Mummy was quite daunted at the beginning and is more of a creative big picture thinker and didn't know really where to start at the beginning but once we had made the initial timber structure, it started to take shape.
It was a most 'interesting' exercise doing this with the children and I am proud to say that ALL 23 children in the class did 'something' to contribute to the final masterpiece(s) - but phew, it was stressful at times. I worked with 4 children at any one time and then had to rotate them - at one stage the boys started off doing the male scarecrow face, then I moved onto 4 girls who decided to 'pretty' up the face by drawing in eyelashes and red lips - only to then turn around and see 4 very angry and upset little boys. Oh dear, Mummy learned very quickly to work with the girls on the 'lady-scarecrow' and with the boys on the 'male-scarecrow'. It was a lot of fun, but Mummy was ever so pleased when the scarecrows were finished.
Watch this space for what the school proposes to do with all the scarecrows !
