Mummy 'hit the road' very early this morning as the sun was coming up and travelled to Massey to collect Dr Hudson (yes he now has a doctorate)! To be honest, he should have stayed at Massey longer, but apparently he was rather vocal about his dissatisfaction with the meals and room service there and they felt he would be happier at home - oops !
Well .... it was rather a shock to see him sporting such a severe hair cut on his rump, thigh and leg - no jokes now about him looking like rather large plucked chicken !

Suffice to say, the operation ended up being larger than we had thought. Dr Hudson is now the bionic dog with a titanium plate in his leg. He also had damaged the meniscus and that required further cutting away. Let's just say that we are going to have a very sore little boy for quite a while.
As for the next month or so, we have physio and massage twice a day, and his walking is limited to the leash for only 5 minutes per day - Hudson is going to really struggle with that, he is such an active dog. To make matter worse, he has to wear an Elizabethan collar to stop him licking or biting the wound. The bald hairstyle and Elizabethan collar seem to go quite well together !
But the next 6 weeks are critical and tough love is going to have to kick in and Hudson is going to be a home boy and confined to just one room and at night times he will need to sleep in a rather large cage, albeit in our bedroom - poor wee bald Huddy . The good news though is that because Huddy is so fit and healthy, and provided we follow the rules, Hudson's recovery prognosis looks good.
Beautiful sunrise as Mummy drove north
Dr Hudson's knee & leg x-rays
Tragic sight - did they really have to shave him that much? As a friend says - looks like his pants have fallen down !!
Curled up in a ball with his Elizabethan collar
Thank you so much Sarah, Georgia & Loulou for the gorgeous gift for Huddy - he managed to wag his tail when he picked up the bone and it squeaked!
And - the capping ceremony - you look SO handsome Huddy !
Dr Hudson is a cute dog, and I really like his name "DR" cool!
