Aunty Rose

Aunty Rosie came for dinner tonight and Josh asked her to read her some bedtime stories ... well let's just say that Rosie was downstairs for quite some time and I think Josh's negotiation skills at scoring a few extra stories are getting better and better.

Little Nippers

The local surf club had a carnival today. We are thinking of enrolling Joshua as a 'Little Nipper' this summer so it was a great chance to head down to the beach and see what the Club did with the juniors. We joined up with quite a group from school, quite the 'gang' - Georgia & Loulou, Curtis, Grace, Jessica, Soul and Jack. We spent 5 glorious hours at the beach and the kids had a ball. The highlight was definitely when Josh and Georgia got taken out on the surf lifesaving raft for a 'spin' and they had a real thrill when the 2 guys did some wheelies in the boat - hang on guys is all I heard them yell !
Quite the little beach-boy
VERY keen to get on that boat
Yes, we will hold on tightly ... and of course we can swim !!
Honestly Mummy, the water isn't cold at all - yeah righto !
Just chilling out and chatting in the sand
The gang !
This sea air makes you so hungry !!
And of course there is no show without Huddy

Afternoon tea at the Garden Centre

After a huge run-around at the park, we went to the Garden Centre for afternoon tea and were lucky enough to sit outside in the gazebo. Josh was both hungry and in good form - he is developing quite a sense of humour !

Lollipops Playground

So that Mummy could do some Christmas shopping the 'boys' were dropped off at Lollipops Playground for just over an hour on Saturday. Mummy arrived back in time to see some of the antics they were BOTH getting up to. I have to say .... I think Daddy was the oldest and the biggest 'kiddie' there that day !

Some playdates .... just work

Reuben is in Joshua's class at school and he came over after school today. It was SO easy, the boys just 'clicked' and had a lovely 3 hours building a train track, jumping on the trampoline, just 'hanging' and then finished off with fish and chips before we took Reuben home.

Practising for Athletics Day

Mummy managed to get home in time to see the Junior school out on the field practising for the up-and-coming Athletics Day. We are so lucky to live right next door to the school .... they were all having lots of fun and what a beautiful day for it !

Josh is confusing us all ....

Josh is left-handed ... well he writes with his left hand. However, he bats with his right hand and, quite honestly, he seems to be able to throw a ball with the same strength from either hand. Makes it a tad difficult when choosing a T-Ball glove ... oh well, we may just as well use the glove as a hat afterall !!

Da boys at Variety Sports

Tuesday afternoon is rather challenging for Mummy ... she packs the car with 4 boys after school and takes them to Variety Sports. The challenge is in getting them from the classroom into the car, counting heads as we go to ensure that all 4 end up in the car! Afternoon tea enroute then has them all geared up to jump out of the car and exert heaps of energy for an hour of variety sports - they all love it !

Yay ... Malcolm & Jill are back

We are all thrilled that Malcolm & Jill have arrived !! Malcolm & Jill live in the UK but also have a property here and live in Wellington for approximately 5 months each year. They are very special to Josh - and to us - and we are so lucky to have them in our lives ... and they have arrived !!

Malcolm reading a bedtime story to Josh - sorry Jill, we didn't get a photo of you this time !

Fun with Georgia

Georgia came over for a playdate this afternoon. We loaded the car with them and Mr Hudson and went up to Mt Victoria and played all sorts of games in amongst the bush and trees. Children have such an innocent way of reminding us all about what is important ... to play games ... to giggle ... to run ... to roll in the grass ... to pick daisies. It was just great.

Georgia & Josh had some lovely conversations in the back of the car as well and are already talking about when they write to one another next year .... we are surely going to miss you Georgia.

Kindy Wheelathon

We went down to support Olviia's kindy fund-raiser this morning ... and had heaps of fun. There was a bouncy castle, dunk-the-duck, raffles, cake stand, face-painting and lots of other fun things to do. Josh loved dunk-the-duck and the highlight was when Mummy had one of the lucky nos for the raffle - the idea was you could choose your prize .... Mummy had her eye on the large ham or possibly the champagne but Josh spied the children's basket full of about 12 different toys, books and activities (no prizes as to guess which basket we chose ?!?!?).

Josh donned his roller skates to enter the wheelathon - as Josh is quite a boy racer now on both his bike and his scooter, we felt in light of the little children that it was not fair for Josh to take down his bike so he wobbled his way round on his roller skates - with Daddy's help. Good on you Josh !

And then Santa arrived .... on his Harley looking remarkably younger and a lot thinner than last year. The children then all had a chance to see Santa, sit on the Harley and tell him what they wanted for Christmas.

It was a lovely time - and another reminder of the special community we live in.

Huddy and his sock fettish

Huddy LOVES socks - especially worn socks - ugh ! However, we do encourage it at times and sometimes we play with Huddy - here we have tied Daddy's sock onto his nose and Josh finds it very funny watching him trying to get it off - only problem is that it is then pay-back time for Huddy and 'sometimes' he gets a tad carried away and suddenly .... oh dear there is a whole in the sock, dear liza, dear liza (and no .... Mummy does NOT darn !).

And more swimming ...

Josh is starting to really enjoy his swimming lessons ... and the more confident he gets in the water, the more fun he has.
