An adventure into the Northern Walkway

Wellington can often truly surprise you. After such a shocking day yesterday, we awoke to one of those cloudless still and sunny days - just glorious. So we packed up and decided to walk the Northern Walkway and visit an old quarry site that had a 30 metre long tunnel that had probably been some speculative gold mine shaft many years ago.
You simply can't beat Wellington on a beautiful day
We head off into the Northern Walkway

Daddy & Josh at the entrance to the tunnel - Josh had come prepared with the head torch that cousins Alisdair & Fiona had given him.

I will follow you Josh ... says tentative Huddy ...

At this point in time, Joshua had pushed Hudson ahead of him to suss it all out

We have a small 'memorabilia' garden at home and put any little special collectables in it - Joshua insisted that he bring home one of the rocks from the cave to put in this garden

On our way out, Joshua got a ride on the 'horse'. Daddy is called the 'horse' - Mummy is called the 'pony' - all I can say is thank goodness Joshua more often than not chooses to ride on the horse!

A quick visit to the dairy for some sugar after our 2 hour walk. Joshua always shares his lollies with Hudson (who I must confess is never slow in coming forward!)
