Joshua and Enzo

Enzo phoned some weeks ago and asked if Joshua would like to go and stay with him up in Wanganui over the school holidays, maybe over a weekend for 2 nights.

Gulp ... Wanganui .... 2 nights !! But Joshua was super keen (to put it mildly - he would go to the ends-of-the-earth with Enzo) and Enzo followed through on his invitation. The plan was for me to drop Joshua off to Sigrun's work on Friday early evening and then she and Enzo and Joshua would drive to Wanganui - and then we would drive to Wanganui on Sunday to pick him up.
Did Mummy and Daddy miss Joshua - OH YES! However, Daddy kindly booked us into The Bolton for a night - obviously a ploy to take Mummy's mind off Joshua not being here! Anyway, Mummy & Daddy had a leisurely time, wandered through town on Saturday, lingered over lunch, went to the movies, took Huddy swimming at the beach ... and then drove to Wanganui early Sunday morning.

As much as Joshua was very happy to see us, he had a very special and amazing time with Enzo and talked non-stop all the way home. Enzo has his own 2-bedroom 'pad' built alongside the main house and so he and Josh slept there. They have a few acres of land in a lifestyle block and Enzo set up a treasure hunt for Josh; they went to the park; they visited Enzo's college; they played drums; they played WII; they could choose anything they wanted for dinner and Sigrun cooked it; Enzo read stories to Josh - and the list goes on.

Let's not forget that Enzo was there for Joshua on the night at 39 days old when we brought him home. Even though Enzo is nearly 16 years old and is now at boarding school in Wanganui and life has taken him on very different paths, he still phones Joshua and keeps in touch with him. Those 2 boys share something very special ... and I have a feeling that it will always be the case.
