The bestest Easter

We are so lucky .... some good friends who have a large farmhouse over in Martinborough asked if we would like to house-sit and feed their 2 kittens over Easter. Well, hello, did we need to even think about it before saying YES! So we packed the car up, including Huddy, and headed over the hill for 3 long glorious days. Every day blessed us with clear blue skies, no wind and endless sunshine. About 10 friends came over for the day on Saturday (Josh was delighted to have 5 other children join him) and we had a barbeque lunch and then had a blissful afternoon of ... jumping on the trampoline, riding the ride-on lawn mower (without the blade engaged!), biking around the lawn and under the trees, an Easter egg treasure hunt in the garden that seemed to go on for ever, and then we dyed, painted and decorated hard-boiled eggs (thanks to Kathy ['Koffee'] who so generously sent us the kit out from the US and which made us reminisce on last Easter when we were all together doing the same thing). After we put aside the decorated eggs that the children wanted to keep, I have to confess that this year we also had an egg-throwing contest on the lawn which was both hilarious and rather icky !!

The kittens, Bella & Butch, were adorable and took quite a shine to Josh- and by day 2 they were also best of friends with Hudson.

Mmm, just remembering that day brings a warm smile to my face - the day could not have been better. We would go back to that house again in a heart-beat.
